Everything you want is on the other side of fear …

When you think of the things that hold you back, what do they look like?

  • Other people?
  • Circumstances?
  • Resources?
  • Timing?
  • Yourself?

What is it about each of those things that keeps you from moving forward?

Is it fear? Chances are that regardless of the “things” holding you back, it can be traced back to fear. Fear of the unknown, fear of the opinion of others, fear of failure, fear of losing control, fear of loss or fear of making the wrong decision.

I think the idea of “healthy fear” isn’t wrong, it’s just not how I would put it. I don’t want to be afraid of anything. Calculating and planning are important but there comes a time when you just need to let go, take a deep breath and jump into the unknown.

It’s scary to be surrounded by uncertainty. I cannot deny that. However, what can you really control? How much control do you actually have in your life? Things can change in a millisecond and, unfortunately, you can’t do a thing about it.

It’s time to face you fears. Your kids, your business, your spouse, your future … it’s all a risk on some level. Odds are, you’ve done riskier things then you are about to do. Any “major life decision” or something along those lines involves considerable risk. That’s just the way it is. I have a feeling, even though I can’t speak from firs-hand experience, that it’s a lot like having kids … you’re never really “ready.”

Don’t let fear control you. Don’t let it dim your light or dampen your future.
