Wake Up in Anticipation that Something Great is Going to Happen Today.

Happy Musical Monday!

I’m so ready for this week. This week is going to be amazing. Yes, I can already tell! Last week was hard because I had a sinus infection and Daniel has been really sick with the flu. Being sick is no fun but watching someone you love go through sickness is even worse. Over the weekend I was reminded of how important it is to pray for people. There are so many people going through really tough stuff and sometimes, all you can do is pray for them. So, I commit to doing more of that.

I’ve also been thinking about conquering my fear of running a half marathon (it’s coming up in May!!!) and this week begins a focused effort to getting closer to my fitness goal. I’ve set some lofty goals in the past but this one in particular scares me. Somehow, I need to get to 13.1 miles in the next 2 months. Oy vey.

In preparation, I will be working out 6 days a week. I’m running 4 times a week and strength training the other two days. This goal is intimidating to say the least. As I’ve said before, I don’t have a history of running long distances but I do dream of being a gazelle. This is the first step.

I keep thinking of the future and visualizing what I will feel like when I finish the race. I can’t wait to see what my body looks like and what it feels like to have the stamina to finish 13.1. This is one of my 2013 goals that will soon be accomplished. Until then, I’m trying not to be scared and instead focus on making progress every day.

Musical Monday: Can You Handle This?

It’s been a little while since I shared a Musical Monday post but after last night’s Super Bowl performance I feel inspired. Bring on the Destiny’s Child, baby! Talk about a song perfect for my running mix. Bootylicious wins every time.

And so it BEGINS. After a lengthy ordeal with my lower back, I am now cleared to begin running again. Just in time, too, because I have 3 months until my first-ever half marathon! I’m excited but a little nervous. I don’t think I can fully comprehend running 13.1 miles. I’ve never run over four so it’s a bit too much of a stress for my imagination just yet.

I can visualize finishing though. I’m definitely doing this. It’s one of my 2013 Goals so it will be done. Period. How are you doing on your 2013 goals? Making progress? Need to look at them and remind yourself what they were? Take this as your reminder :)

I’d love to hear any tips on running long distances, what gear to choose and how to run in winter weather.

Musical Monday: Workin’ it Like a BOSS.

The past few weeks have been pretty busy for me. I’ve been doing a lot of introspection and I’m attempting to figure out where I want to transition to career-wise … I’ve really been enjoying the journey so far and I think I’ve almost got it figured out (for now). I actually just started public relations and social media consulting again and I have my first client :) (!!!) So that’s pretty sweet. OK it’s really sweet.
I’m working on several projects so I want to give you a preview into what you can expect over the next few weeks …
  • More recipes. If you’ve noticed less frequent recipe highlights it’s simply because I haven’t been cooking as much. I’ve been sticking to staples that I’ve already shared with you because I’ve been busy. The good news is I’m back in the kitchen as of tonight so I’ll have some yumminess to share with you very soon.
  • A Paleo Christmas cookie round-up. Similar to my Thanksgiving round-up but more delicious because it’s dessert.
  • Cross-fit & Yoga– I’m just beginning this but my plan is to complete daily workouts in the AM M-Sat. A friend shared an amazing resource with me that you should definitely check out. It’s called BodeeFit. Why do I love it? Because they send you daily workouts (with videos!!), a weekly Paleo recipe and it’s by one of my *favorite* Paleo bloggers: PaleOMG. I want to really press into the whole yoga thing this week. We’ll see how it goes …
  • Launching a website. This will be a professional site for my public relations and social media business. I still need to think of a name so if you have ideas, send them my way.
  • Moving my blog so that it’s self-hosted (more details TBA) – I’m almost positive I’ll be making the move from a WordPress.com to a WordPress.org site. Basically, I’ll have more control over the resources I can offer when you stop in and I’m going to beef up the comments section to make it easier for us to interact.
  • YouTube – I’m going to be making some how-to videos about eating Paleo and more. I’m realizing that not everyone has read/learned about Paleo and some videos on it might be good. I’m really excited to share them with you! They’re coming soon so watch for them.
  • Blog Tips and Social Media tools – I’ll be coming out with Pt. 2 of my blogging series soon (you thought I forgot didn’t you …) I’ll also share some social media tools to make your life easier.
