What’s In My Grocery Basket: 1.13.13

Well, by now you can probably tell that I like to experiment with new ideas. Whether it’s documenting what I wear every day for a month, stretching myself to 30 day challenges or building my own website, I like variety and experimenting with ideas. Sometimes they stick and sometimes I toss them out to make way for others.

Well, earlier this week someone commented on my Youtube page and asked what a typical day looks like when it comes to how I eat. So, I started thinking about doing another video for you guys (which I’ll share in the coming weeks) but I also had an idea yesterday that I want to try. I’m going to start sharing my grocery basket with you every time I shop. I’ll share a photo of the contents, a detailed list and maybe even some recipe ideas.

I’ve said it before, I like keeping things simple yet tasty. I don’t mind eating leftovers, in fact, I think they’re super smart because they’re convenient. All that to say, this bunch of groceries may not look like much but I’m creative in how I use each element.

I’ll go over more details later in my video but for now, look for this Sunday post in the future where you can get ideas for your own shopping basket. Feel free to share what’s in your basket via my Facebook page so I can see what’s in your basket, too!Image

  • 1 carton of dried fruit and nuts (I pop a handful of these if I’m hungry before a meal to tide me over until it’s done cooking!)
  • 1 individual serving of Naked juice (that lasts the week for me)
  • 1 yellow onion
  • 2 avocados
  • 2 red bell peppers
  • 1 tomato
  • 1 pack of Baby Bella mushrooms (I add these to eggs, sweet potatoes, chicken, green beans and more!)
  • 1 head of iceberg lettuce (we like this with taco meat)
  • 1 lb of all natural, nitrate-free bacon
  • 1 London Broil steak (I’m going to try a NEW recipe with this in a couple days)
  • 1 lb ground beef (I add seasoning to this and combine it with shredded sweet potato or cauliflower puree for lunches)
  • 2 cartons of eggs (I’ll make them for breakfast, hard boil some and maybe try making mayo this week)
  • 1 32 oz. Jug of All natural maple syrup
  • 1 container of gummy vitamins (this may not be Paleo but I like them)
  • 2 Organic Granny Smith Apples
  • 1 Pomegranate
  • 1 Large bag of ready to cook green beans
  • 2 2lb bags of chicken breasts (they were on sale so I’ll use one and freeze the other)
  • 3 Naval oranges
  • 6 Lara Bars (they’re great for on the go)

There you go! What do you think?
