The events that unfolded on Friday and over the weekend have reminded me of the importance of investing in other people. These tragedies, when they don’t directly impact us, serve as a reminder and provide renewed perspective. Reminders of the importance of kindness, love and compassion.
It’s important to be the best you can be and pursue your dreams and I speak about this topic often. Even more important, however, is investing in others and showing love. When you pass, people will remember how you made them feel. Did you love them and make time for them? Or were you too busy pursuing your career and your own agenda? Ouch, I know. It’s an important reminder.
Let’s make a difference by how we treat others and how we invest our time. Our dreams are important and worth running after. But let’s not forget the ones we love nor the stranger in need of kindness.
So be brave, give of yourself and do something kind for someone today. Don’t expect or wait for a thank you. Don’t share it in your social media status. Keep it as a secret, tucked away in your heart and find satisfaction in that.
P.S. If you’d like to make a monetary difference in the lives of those suffering in Newtown, here’s a link to a crowd-funding campaign: Connecticut School Tragedy
