It’s so rainy outside … Is this the beginning of spring I’m seeing outside my window? I hope so. I can’t wait!

Well, today I was prepping some meals (Paleo Sweet Aromatic Chicken and Butternut Squash Soup) and I was struck with how good I’m feeling once again after getting back into my usual Paleo routine. Seriously, getting off track is SO not worth it. But then, I’m sure there are many of you who haven’t yet tried Paleo and I really want to encourage you to try it – even for 30 days. Your mind, body and eating habits will be changed forever. Promise!

So, I put together a list of my top 10 reasons to try it … What do you think? (If you’re not sure what Paleo is, click here.)

Top 10 Benefits of Eating Paleo

  1. Detox your body. When you eat “normal” food, you’re filling your body with confusing things it doesn’t know how to process (because it was never intended to process those bad things). Additives, irritants, phytates, artificial sweeteners, sugar overload … eating Paleo cleans everything up and resets your body to its preferred state.
  2. Clearer skin. I’ve never had a major problem with my skin (thank you good genes!) but I would occasionally get one or two obscenely-sized zits. I don’t now –Unless I go off-track in my eating.
  3. More energy. You know that feeling you get when you’ve eaten too much or too many carbs? You just want to fall into a carb-coma. Never happens when you’re eating Paleo.
  4. Better sleep. I sleep like a little baby every night. Seriously. It’s amazing.
  5. Improved digestion. I used to be completely out of whack. Now, I don’t have ANY constipation (this is funny to mention but you actually don’t even really have gas unless you eat something bad – true story.)
  6. Get Rid of food addiction. I eat when I’m hungry. I stop when I’m satisfied and I don’t have to fight the cravings monster. I don’t crave bad things. Daniel can eat fast food in front of me and I don’t want it.
  7. Free your mind.
  8. Better workouts. Running after eating Paleo for several months was mind-blowing I seriously felt like I could run faster and my strides were longer. My stamina and overall attitude toward working out even improved.
  9. Transformed body composition. This is really cool. Starting back when I did the Whole30 in August, I literally saw my body change over time to be more flattering. I had an hour-glass-ish figure before but now I have a clearly defined waist and overall body composition is very healthy looking.
  10. Happier. SO much happier.

With a list like that, what are you waiting for? Try eating Paleo! Chime in with your top reasons for eating Paleo if you’re already eating Paleo

Happy Friday!

Let’s end the week with a video, shall we? Check out the tools that I use weekly in my kitchen to make life MUCH easier. There is definitely a learning curve when it comes to making meals at home, especially if you haven’t done much cooking previously. It was a challenge for me for a while but now I’ve developed some shortcuts to make meal prep a lot easier. These tools are examples of how I help speed up the cooking process … Let me know if you have suggestions or questions.

OH and please subscribe to my Youtube channel :)

Have a great weekend!

Is Excess Keeping You from Achieving Your Goals?

11 Feb

KateUpdates Make it Happen

I love Mondays. I’ll admit I haven’t always liked them but the past couple years have taught me to see Mondays as the springboard for each new week. Mondays are a new beginning, a fresh start and, to me, they hold the most potential of any day in the week. So, I love Mondays.

On this momentous day, I wanted to share a thought with you that may sound a little funny but stick with me and it will make sense. This is it: Is excess holding you back? Is having too much of a “good” thing keeping you from achieving your goals?

Excess can come in the form of …

  • Too much work
  • Too much play
  • Too much sugar
  • Too much sleep
  • Too much snacking
  • Too much alone time
  • Too much time with people
  • Too much social media time
  • Too much structure
  • Too much free-time
  • Too much … too much!

Are you living a lifestyle of ‘too much’ in certain areas? Is it time for you to practice discipline, diminishing excess, to free yourself and achieve your goals? Even a good thing, when turned to excess, can become destructive. It’s like the saying goes, “‘Everything is permissible’–but not everything is beneficial. ‘Everything is permissible’–but not everything is constructive.” I Cor. 10:23

If an activity, habit or lack thereof is keeping you from accomplishing your goals, maybe it’s time to reevaluate the time and attention you’re giving to that thing/activity/person.

Just a little food for thought …
